Mood Boosting Beauty

As the sun starts setting that little bit earlier, the grey days of winter creep ever closer and morning motivation seems to shrink back – it’s so easy to start the day feeling as dull as the weather. But it’s all about PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) right? And my feel-good solution is so much easier than an hour on the yoga mat or investing in intricate juicing aperati (not that those aren’t incredibly good remedies) – it’s down to mood boosting beauty.

Stimulating scents

Aroma can have a huge impact on the way we feel, so start the day with an uplifting, energising fragrance in your shower gel. Anything with citrus or mint is the perfect way to kickstart your senses. Follow with the matching moisturiser for a longer lasting feel good factor. Glow on

Dullness in the weather cannot be helped, but a dull complexion is 100% avoidable.  Switch your foundation up for a more dewy finish, or add some illuminator to your look. I love Benefit’s High Beam (£19.50), blended across cheekbones, and under the brow bone.

Sweep on sunshine

Sunkissed skin might not be an option for the next few months (unless you’re heading off for some winter sun, and in which case I’m very jealous) but give yourself an instant lift with a little gently shimmering bronzer. Apply using a ‘3’ motion across forehead, cheeks and chin – as that’s where the sun would naturally fall.

Colour me happy

Bright lips are an instant mood booster for me, and they make my eyes look brighter too (a bonus when you’ve struggled out of bed in what seems like midnight darkness). So red, pink, coral – pucker up for a brighter day.
