I’ve always liked Burt’s Bees. Number 1 reason? I had a cat called Burt. He was wonderful. But I also love their brand story – it’s genuine. And while it might now be growing into a more corporate machine (still with a hearty commitment to their social responsibility), I love to imagine bearded Burt tending to his bees, content with the simplicity of it all.
Years ago, my sister bought be a Burt’s Bees lip balm (due to reason 1) and it really was lovely. So when I came upon the Lip Crayon, I was looking forward to trying it. From looking at the packaging it’s easy to see that the nature of Burt’s has shifted – from the sweet little tins and more natural looking packing, we’re now looking at classic twist up chubby stick, with a sweet honeycomb detail on the lid (which, I know from experience, would not have come cheap!)
Anyway, onto the product. What can I say? It’s a joy to wear. It glides on softly with a balmy texture, feels lovely on lips and not drying at all. The colour is sheer, but still with a decent amount of pigment, and has a balmy shine. I tried Niagra Overlook, which is like a deep beige toned rose. The 100% natural ingredient listing reads rather nicely, with beeswax (of course), shea butter and jojoba oil.
This product will sit beautifully in your handbag to apply as a hint of colour throughout the day. I can see it being perfect for summer, paired with BB cream and mascara for a no fuss look. In fact I’d love to try some of the other shades!
You can pick this lovely product up here. And it’s only £8.99… I’ll be picking up those other shades this week!
